One of my first homes after leaving school was a radical women's squat
in South London, my first demonstration was an anti Vietnam War protest
in Berlin while I was still a teen, and my most famous photograph is an
image of feminist graffiti on a billboard. Sometimes, the course of a
life is set early on. Anti War demonstrations, Gay Pride Parades, and
Women's Liberation protests, as well as the struggle to preserve Aboriginal culture in Australia and the humbling experience of helping the homeless
during their eviction from the Albany Landfill in 1999 - the power of protest has
always drawn my attention.
